William’s Story – Best Friends Animal Sanctuary – Kanab, Utah
William was brought into the Dent County Animal Shelter as a surrender kitten on August 26, 2002. After a while, a volunteer noticed that William wasn't like the rest of the kittens. William has a neurological birth defect that causes his eyes to be crossed and moreover, his legs do not do what he wants them to do.
William is very sweet and loving and we felt that he deserves a chance at life in a place that is able to meet his special needs. Through prayers, emails and many telephone calls I was able to persuade Best Friends in Kanab, Utah, to agree to adopt William. William will be placed in their wonderful no-kill facility where he will live his life in Benton's House--their special care feline home.
Because William is so small and delicate he was taken to Dr. Brian Janke to make sure he would be able travel. Dr. Janke, at the Rolla Animal Hospital, very generously provided free services and gave William a thorough checkup. Dr. Janke said William will be able to fly after a round of medication and vitamins. William is in good shape except that he needs to put on a bit of weight as he only weighs 3.75 lbs.
I will escort him to Best Friends in Utah by the end of the month.
